Uniform Policy

The complete uniform must be worn on the first day of school. The administration has sole discretion in making final determinations about the regulations listed below. "Out of uniform" days are designated by the administration, and only affect the type of clothing worn. All other regulations will be in effect on these days.

BOY'S and GIRLS' UNIFORMS

Slacks/shorts: Solid navy blue or khaki, easy-care chino pants and shorts (no twill cargos, flare chinos, corduroy nor 100% cotton pants), worn to the waist . These must be purchased only from Lands' End School Catalog or from Schoolbelles. Shorts may be worn instead of slacks from April 15 to October 15.. The easy-care pleated chinos, easy-care reinforced-knee pleated chinos, and easy-care elastic-waist chinos are all acceptable.

Polo knit shirts : Solid white mesh polo or interlochen Polo shirts, short or long sleeves, with red monogrammed GA logo, purchased from the GA Uniforms*, Lands' End School Catalogue or from Schoolbelles. Shirts must be kept tucked into the pants, culottes, or shorts . Plain short sleeve white t-shirts, without any writing on them, may be worn under uniform polo shirts. (No long-sleeve t-shirts may be worn under short-sleeve uniform polo shirts.)

Socks: Solid white, navy, or black socks that can be seen must be worn at all times. Girls may wear solid white, navy or black footed tights (or ankle length running leggings) or knee-high socks under the uniform jumper, or culottes in cold weather. ( Knit pants or sweatpants are not to be worn under the girls’ uniforms.)

Sweatshirts/Sweaters: Official navy blue uniform sweatshirts with embroidered GA logo purchased from GA PTA Uniforms*, Lands’ End or Schoolbelles may be worn. The uniform polo shirt must be worn under the sweatshirts. A navy blue cardigan sweater with the GA logo which can be purchased from Schoolbelles or Lands’ End is also an option. Students in the Junior High will be permitted to wear Guardian Angels gray, hooded sweatshirts that can be purchased from the Athletic Boosters.

GIRLS' ADDITIONAL UNIFORM OPTIONS:

Jumper: Grades K-4 - Uniform plaid jumpers, knee length , purchased from Schoolbelles or Lands’ End. Culottes: Grades 5-8 - Uniform plaid culottes, knee length , purchased only from Schoolbelles.

PERSONAL APPEARANCE: NEATNESS OF DRESS AND PERSON IS EXPECTED OF ALL STUDENTS AT ALL TIMES.

Please Note:

The Uniform Code has become part of the Code of Disciplilne. If students are not in proper uniform, parents may be called to bring the correct uniform to school. Students will receive a “point” if they are habitually not following the uniform code.
Sandals, clogs, open-toed shoes, heels and boots are not permitted.
Jewelry is not recommended. For safety reasons, dangling jewelry (earrings), are not permitted. Piercing is permitted only in the ears.
Hairstyles must be appropriate and “fad” hairstyles are not permitted. Boys’ hair must be above the eyebrow; collar-length in back.
Make-up is not to be worn to school.
Out-of-uniform days are announced by administrators. Students are to adhere to the dress code as announced by the administrators. On out-of-uniform days students are expected to wear appropriate and modest clothes. The midriff is not to be seen. Tank tops or tops with spaghetti straps are not to be worn. Short shorts or skirts are not to be worn. Students are not permitted to wear clothing that have the following on them: improper language; advertisements for alcohol; and gang insignias or symbols.
The decision of an administrator concerning the dress of students is final.

GYM UNIFORM — GRADES 2-8- BOYS AND GIRLS

Shirt:      Solid color shirt with first name at least one inch in size on front of the shirt is required.
Shorts:   Solid color shorts are required. Solid color sweatpants may be worn in cold weather. Solid colors are not required for Kindergarten.
Shoes:    Gym shoes are required for class for all grades.
(Students in Kindergarten and 1^st Grade will not be changing clothes for gym class; they are required, however, to bring a solid color shirt with their first name on it to be put on over their uniform.)

An approved Guardian Angels gym uniform is available for purchase through the PTA Uniforms*.
